The development of artificial intelligence (AI) in church ministry presents new opportunities as well as serious challenges for contemporary Christian pneumatology. On the one hand, AI is used to support ministries such as the preparation of sermon materials, liturgy, and congregational data management; on the other hand, there is growing concern that spiritual ministry may be reduced to a merely technical process that lacks personal and relational dimensions. This article aims to critically examine the contrast between divine wisdom, made present by the Holy Spirit, and the “intelligence” produced by AI systems in the context of contemporary church ministry. Employing a literature review methodology, this study explores biblical, theological, and ethical sources on the work of the Holy Spirit, alongside recent literature on the use of AI in the church. The findings show that divine wisdom is personal, relational, and transformational, rooted in fellowship with the Triune God and oriented toward the restoration of creation. Meanwhile, AI is instrumental and algorithmic, without spiritual dimension or moral intentionality, and therefore can only be positioned as a supporting tool, never as a substitute for the presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Consequently, the church is called to adopt a critically positive stance: making creative use of AI, while prioritizing pneumatological discernment and the formation of Christian character.
